A row of penguins on a sandy beach carry their digital devices as the sunsets on Windows.

When Windows Froze: A Penguin’s Migration to Linux.

A journey from the end of times to Linux Shores. Where the brave venture, and fish in new warmer waters!

A cold blistering day

Penguins waddling in single file, carrying devices (laptops, desktops, tablets) under a soft snow sky.

The sky was grey, the wind was still...

And there was a silent storm brewing. The weight of unbroken clouds loomed overhead.

A cosy, icy world filled with digital homes—square and glassy like Windows logos.

The World of Windows

Once, many creatures lived in the Land of Windows—a world of glowing screens and helpful clicks.
It had rules, routines, and familiar noises.
Life was predictable. Safe.
Until one winter…

A cosy, snowy world filled with digital homes—square and glassy like Windows logos.

The Freeze

One day, the windows no longer opened.
The help vanished. The updates stopped.
“This version is no longer supported,” said a cold voice.
The air grew still.
The land… froze.

Pebble (our protagonist penguin) holding an old laptop, looking uncertain but curious.

Meet Pebble the Penguin

Pebble had always followed the old path.
But now the snow was too thick, and the lights were going out.
Pebble heard whispers of a warmer place—Linux Shores.

Pebble talks to a nervous group of penguins with different devices. One clutches a Surface tablet.

Gathering Together

“I heard there are new lands with open doors,” Pebble said.
“Is it safe?” asked Tower.
“Is it hard?” asked Tabby.
“Will it work with my files?” asked Lappy.
Pebble nodded. “Let’s find out—together.”

A stylised migration map with different Linux flavours marked like regions: Mint Mountain, Ubuntu Bay, Fedora Forest, etc.

The Map

Pebble opened an old map they found in the snow. There were new lands ahead—Linux Shores, where penguins could work, play, and thrive. There were many islands to choose from: Mint Mountain, Ubuntu Bay, Fedora Forest... but where would they start?

A melting glacier and iceberg, representing Windows' collapse due to global warming.

The Melt

As Windows froze and the icy glaciers of the old world cracked, the penguins knew they had to leave. The glassy homes of their past were melting away, and the time had come to find something new—a warmer, freer land.
